Maryland Immigration Attorneys

Helping Clients in Rockville, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, and Washington, D.C.

In Washington D.C. and surrounding areas of Maryland, the immigration lawyers of Albright & Rhodes, LLC are well-known for taking on complex immigration cases, fighting hard, and finding ways to win. Because we also have proficiency in family law and criminal defense, we are especially well suited to handle immigration litigation involving divorce, deportation, and other issues. We often receive referrals of such cases from attorneys who do not practice immigration law.

With over 30 years of combined experience, our lawyers have represented a wide range of clients, from immigrants facing deportation to employees of international organizations such as the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. No matter who you are, you can count on our lawyers to guide you carefully through the legal process.

Matters are staffed by an experienced attorney, along with paralegals, investigators and/or clerical support, in a manner maximizing cost-effectiveness.  Attorney Laura Kelsey Rhodes, who is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, has had success in post-conviction cases, that is, getting convictions set aside and enabling clients to plead to charges that do not affect their immigration status.  She has also been successful in naturalization matters where the client has a minor conviction.  Attorney Polina Tomashevsky who is fluent in Russian, has been successful in obtaining EB-1 and 0 visas for clients and various family immigration matters requiring waivers.  Counsel Sandra Grossman is fluent in Spanish, has successfully challenged Deportation and Removal charges by government and has won asylum cases involving human rights issues

We represent clients before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service as well as Immigration and Customs Enforcement; providing guidance and aggressive trial advocacy, in matters relating to:

  • Deportation
  • Family visas
  • Citizenship
  • Naturalization procedures
  • “Green card” applications
  • Employment petitions
  • Asylum

For more general information about these and other aspects of federal immigration law, visit our Immigration Information Center.

We are also known for our “nanny law” practice, which advises clients hiring domestic help on tax and payroll requirements, employee background checks and matters related to immigration. This part of our practice received plenty of media attention, as have many of our high-profile cases.

Past Successes

Many of our successful cases have involved several different areas of law. For instance, in one case, a couple from Russia was going through a divorce. The husband threatened not to renew the wife's dependent visa if she did not sign an unfair separation agreement. Attorney Anne K. Albright exposed the husband's manipulation, protected the woman's immigration status, and got her the divorce agreement she needed. (See our Representative Cases page for more on this and other cases we have handled.)

Se Habla Español
