Deportation

Maryland Deportation Attorneys

When the deportation attorneys of Albright & Rhodes, LLC are hired, they pursue every avenue possible to keep the person safely in the United States. They have over 30 years of combined experience, handling hundreds of court cases and gaining headlines for their skilled work.

At Albright & Rhodes, LLC, we understand the consequences of a criminal conviction for non-citizens. A minor offense, or even one in which the client qualifies for a pretrial diversion program, can subject immigrants to deportation proceedings.

Experienced in Both Immigration and Criminal Defense

Along with our active immigration practice, we also do extensive work in criminal defense. We know how to mount a defense that can minimize the risk of deportation, and our experience in both immigration law and criminal defense law enables us to find creative solutions to complex deportation issues. Our deportation lawyers regularly succeed with appeals and post conviction remedies, getting old convictions vacated so they do not count for immigration purposes.

Past Successes

In matters of deportation, our lawyers have had many successes. In one case, a Green Card holder and former Navy serviceman came to us having already pled guilty to attempted murder as part of a plea agreement. He was threatened with deportation as a result, and few lawyers gave him much of a chance of staying in the United States.

Our lawyers found a creative solution, however. We argued that our client's previous lawyer had violated his rights by not letting him know that pleading guilty could get him deported. The judge agreed, and we worked out a deal to have our client plead guilty to assault instead. Since assault is a misdemeanor instead of a felony, our client was able to avoid deportation and apply for U.S. citizenship. (See our Representative Cases page for more on this and other cases we have handled.)
